I’m confused about using Discover at Costco. Some people say yes, others say only Visa is allowed. Anyone who knows the real policy, please explain

Hey everyone
,
I’m hoping someone can clear this up because the answers online are all over the place. I’m trying to figure out does Costco take Discover card, and every time I search, I find a different explanation. Some people say it depends on the store, others say it works only for online orders, and now I’m just confused

Here’s why it matters to me. I recently switched most of my spending to Discover because of the rotating cashback categories, and Costco is one of the places I shop the most for groceries and household stuff. Before I go there and end up awkwardly standing at the register with the wrong card, I’d rather know the real story

A few things I’m still unsure about:
Is Discover accepted anywhere inside Costco warehouses, or is it completely restricted?
Does Costco.com have different payment rules than physical stores?
If only Visa works in-store, can Discover still be used for purchasing Costco services or gas?
Is the policy the same in every state, or do some locations allow exceptions?
What about Costco travel bookings — does Discover work there or not?
I’m not looking for rumors — just someone who has real experience or knows the official policy without the confusing fine print. Even employees or frequent shoppers would be super helpful.
I don’t mind switching cards at checkout, I just want to avoid surprises. If there are alternatives like using Discover through digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.), that would also be useful to know

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Your answer will probably help a lot of people who keep running into the same mixed information
